FAQs

  1. Why quotes?

“I always have a quotation for everything – it saves original thinking.” We need the experience of our forebears to help us progress and evolve. And how better to get that experience than with the help of short fragments of text taken out of context? TheQuotes.com promises to deliver quotes for every need and occasion, from fluffing up a school essay to dealing with a spurned ex. Our topics are nigh-endless.

  2. “Who are you people and where is my horse?”

TheQuotes.com team consists of driven and passionate individuals who just want to share some knowledge with the world. For more information on the people behind the quote visit The Team page.

  3. How can I get more of my favorite quotes on this website?

“A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.” There are two ways for you to go about adding your favorite quote to TheQuotes.com. One option is for you to comment on a quote from the same author and ask us to upload your pick. A second, much better option, is for you to create an account, go to the Create Quote section, and fill in the appropriate fields.

  4. How can I submit a quote?

To submit a quote, you need to complete the Submit Quote form at the bottom of TheQuotes.com homepage. Fill in the appropriate fields (Reference Link, Author, Quote, Suggested Tags). Click on Submit. After our team reviews your entry (it doesn’t take more than a day unless it’s the weekend), you’ll be able to find it on under that author.

  5. What if the author of my quote isn’t featured on TheQuotes.com?

As soon as you submit your quote, our team will start working on writing the biography of the new author. Submitting a quote from an author who isn’t on our website will guarantee that as soon as their page is up, we’ll start adding more quotes by said individual. Each submission is still much appreciated.

  6. What are tags and why do we need them?

Tags are a great way to keep track of our quotes. Without them, we’d have nothing but chaos. We wouldn’t be able to sort any topics or have any particular order to our quotes. “Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!” Tags can be anything from “amazing quotes” to “wedding quotes” and even “wisdom quotes”.

  7. I found an issue with one of your quotes. What now?

The best way to go about notifying us of an error is to visit the Contact page and tell us about the issue. Alternatively, if you don’t feel like filling out a form, you can just leave a comment on the quote’s page. As soon as our team sees the message, we’ll take care of it.

  8. Why aren’t my favorite authors on TheQuotes.com?

It’s very difficult to keep track of every single famous person that ever lived. We still try, though, but we can’t possibly be up to date with every single recorded thing said by someone noteworthy. That is why we need your help. If you see that an author isn’t on TheQuotes.com, submit one of their quotes. We’ll handle it asap.

  9. Why create an account?

There are many benefits to having an account on TheQuotes.com. For one, you can be a part of our awesome community. In order to post, comment, or submit a quote, you will need an account. 11. How do I change my password?

To change your password, you must be logged into your account. Click on your username, and then on Settings. Scroll down and find the password fields. Simply type your new password into both fields, click Save, and you’ll have successfully changed your password.

  12. How do I change my avatar?

In order to change your profile picture, you must be logged into your TheQuotes.com account. Click on your username, and then click on Settings. Click on the silhouette and browse your computer for your avatar of choice. Click on Save, and that’s it.

  13. Can I change my username?

Sadly, no, you cannot change your username. But as American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr puts in the Serenity Prayer, “Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference.”

  14. Where can I see the quotes I posted?

Seeing the quotes you’ve added to TheQuotes.com is fairly easy. Log into your account, click your username, and select My Quotes from the drop-down list. If no quotes are present, it’s probably because you didn’t add any yet. If you did and they’re still not there, please contact us. You might have encountered a bug.

  15. Where can I see my favorite quotes?

If you’ve clicked on the heart adjacent to a quote in order to mark it as a favorite, then you have begun building up your Favorites collection. To see your favorite quotes on TheQuotes.com, click on your username, and then on My Quotes. You will be taken to the My Quotes page. Once there, click on Favorites.

  16. Why am I getting a bunch of quotes I didn’t pick in my Favorites section?

If you’re getting a bunch of quotes you didn’t pick in your Favorites section, it’s because you haven’t yet selected a favorite quote. The quotes you’re seeing are recommendations. As soon as you pick a favorite quote, they will be replaced by your collection.

  17. What does the Create Quote button do?

The Create Quote button allows you to have fun with the same add-on our team uses to post each quote. You can make your own quote image in just a couple of minutes. All you need are the quote and the author’s name.

Click on the larger text box and paste or type your quote in there, and then click on the smaller one and type in the author’s name. Next, you can select one of our background patterns or even upload your own photo background.

You can also play around with the color filter, overlay and image opacity. There are also some font options you might enjoy. When you’re done, your quote will end up looking like it was professionally generated. It will be sent to the My Quotes section of your account, and you will have the option to download your creation.

  18. It takes forever to scroll back up. How do I do that faster?

If you’ve browsed TheQuotes.com long enough, you might have noticed that we don’t have a scroll bar. To go back to the top of the page, simply click on the orange arrow at the bottom-right-hand corner of the screen. It will take you back to the top of the page. Alternatively, you can look for any quote you might have scrolled past by searching for it with CTRL+F.

  19. How can I filter out all but a specific type of quote?

If you feel like reading just quotes on a particular topic, we have you covered. Simply click on Topics, and you will be brought to a list of all of our quote subjects. Browse the list and select a topic in order to read all of our quotes on the matter.

  20. I like you guys / I have a beef with you guys. How can I get in touch?

You can see our contact information by visiting our Contact page. Alternatively, you check out TheQuotes.com on social media by scrolling to the bottom of a page and clicking on the platform of your choice.

  21. Does upvoting/downvoting quotes actually do anything?

As we’ve mentioned before, we encourage user interaction and communication. So, the upvote/downvote system has a well-established behavior. It notifies other users of the quality of each of our uploaded quotes.
It can also serve as a red flag, as enough downvotes on a quote might very well lead to us removing it from the website. Additionally, more upvotes on the recorded sayings of a less popular writer might end up with us adding more and more quotes from that individual.

  22. Where are my TheQuotes.com emails going?

If you were supposed to receive an email from TheQuotes.com and it’s missing from your inbox, it may very well be in your Spam folder. Check that out, and if it’s not there either, contact us. We’ll be back with a reply in no-time.

  23. Can I browse TheQuotes.com on the go?

You can totally browse TheQuotes.com on the go. Our website is fully adapted to all modern mobile devices. Now, you can take your daily supply of quotes wherever you go.
